Russia expects to export 51 mln tns of grain, harvest 127 mln tns

YEKATERINBURG, Aug 12 (PRIME) – Russia can export 51 million tonnes of grain this season and still plans to harvest 127.4 million tonnes, including about 81 million tonnes of wheat, Agriculture Minister Dmitry Patrushev said on Thursday.

“We preliminarily assess our grain export potential at 51 million tonnes this season – this is the largest volume that can be exported after provision for the local market and the carryover stock,” he said.

The ministry is not discussing abolishment of the export duty, Patrushev added.

"This measure was designed as permanent. It still proves its efficiency, stabilizes the local market prices as the global prices rise," he said.

Patrushev said that the Agriculture Ministry maintained the 2021 crop forecast.

'We believe that we will exceed the threshold of 80 million tonnes of grain today. We expect that the works will be complete in optimal time and without losses. This year’s target amounts to 127.4 million tonnes of grain, including 81 million tonnes of wheat,' Patrushev said.

The agricultural product output will satisfy 100% demand for staple food at affordable prices in 2021, Patrushev added.
